The Artist’s profile
Chun Tai Chen (陳君岱) is a contemporary artist based in Taipei. Chen received a BA in Accessory Design from the Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising at Fu Jen Catholic University in 2007.

Beginning her career in contemporary jewellery, Chen later expanded her practice into the realms of contemporary craft and visual arts, quickly developing a distinctive artistic language through the exploration of diverse materials and techniques.
Her practice is fundamentally a long-term inquiry into the nature of time. The trajectory of her work reveals time transitioning from the perception of personal emotion and inevitability to a physical sedimentation within the material structure, condensed through the labor-intensive process of making into an existence that transcends the individual.
Her first solo exhibition, Scenery in Mind (腦內風景), marked an important early milestone for the artist.

Chen’s work has been widely recognized both in Taiwan and internationally, earning numerous accolades. In 2022, she made history at the Taiwan Fiber Creation Award by becoming the first artist to receive dual Grand Prizes in both the Art and Lifestyle categories. She has also been a two-time Special Prize recipient at the Cheongju International Craft Competition.
In 2023, her work received acknowledgment from the Latvian National Museum of Art at the Riga International Triennial of Fiber Art.
In 2024, she was selected as a finalist for the prestigious LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, and in 2025, she received the Jury Award for the Lih Pao Sculpture Biennial Awards for her works, “In Simplicity.”
Chen’s works are included in the collections of the Taiwan Fiber Craft Museum as well as private collections in Taiwan and France.
